swensen’s

Published August 4, 2012 by ladyemelye

hubby, my niece and i have always been fond of ice cream.  ever since this ice cream parlor opened in Mall of Asia, we have been eyeing to try it out.  so one afternoon, we decided to fulfill our sweet cravings at swensen’s.

swensen’s

they have a menu with extensive offerings of sundaes, parfaits, shakes and other ice cream creations that would suit whatever you want in an ice cream.

the place was also warm and cozy, servers are very attentive, and we especially liked the glasses in which the water was served.  once you sit down on your table, they immediately serve you water.  this is nice since you need to wash away all the sweetness you will have from the ice cream.

so here is what we ordered:

sweet n’ gold – php 185.00

strawberry stripes – php 255.00

nutty crispy tower – php 245.00

ebony and ivory – php 265.00

chocolate ring a ding – php 245.00

we liked how each of our orders were a balance of sweetness, crunch and other flavors.  i loved the macadamia ice cream and caramel syrup on my ebony and ivory order.  the sweet and gold on the other hand has nata de coco and corn kernels.

one could also create your own concoctions by choosing your ice cream flavor, syrup and toppings that you want.

the price is a little high for just an order of ice cream, but it would be a good indulgence once in a while.  will definitely go back to try their other offerings.

wicked

we had the chance to eat at “Wicked Kitchen” before the holiday break. i have heard good reviews about this restaurant and we decided to try it out.

since this is located in Mother Ignacia (near ABS-CBN), it was a little traffic, and we were lucky that we were able to get a parking space.
we ordered the broccoli and cheese chowder, sisig rice, bagoong pork rice. their dessert were named after the seven deadly sins, and we decided to try gluttony.
our total bill was a little over Php 500.00. the food was good and we were filled to the brim. the only downside was that the resto was a little small, and i imagine it would be packed during meal times, and of course the parking would be difficult.
we would go back here to try the other meals, and of course sample other sinful desserts. =)

avocado cake

Published April 28, 2009 by ladyemelye

last thursday, i finally got to taste one of the most unique cakes i have heard of. since junjun was in the gilmore area, i asked him to buy cake slices from lia’s cakes in season.

this store is known for their avocado cake. unfortunately, that was not available when he went there, so he opted for avocado choco cake instead.

together with starbucks coffee (which we got with a discount of Php 40.00 due to earth day), we sampled the cake. it was a unique blend of the nutty and distinct flavor of avocado and the sweetness of chocolate. it was accentuated with cashew nuts. i really enjoyed each bite of the cake, which was very moist. for around Php 70.00 per slice, the cake was a treat.

other unique flavors are available at lia’s. they also have other branches. for more details, you can visit liascakesinseason.multiply.com

i hope they have avocado cake the next time…
