christmas 2013 family bonding

Published June 4, 2014 by ladyemelye

after christmas day, the family went to sm mall of asia for some bonding.  we decided to play bowling and then have dinner afterwards.

we arrived at the mall around 3pm, so first had our snacks at burger king.  afterwards we proceeded to the bowling center where we registered and waited for an available lane so that we could take our slot.

after for about 30 minutes or so, we were called.  went to the counter, paid for 2 games, got our shoes and then it’s game on.

it was a game of girls vs. boys.  since none of us are really bowlers, it was fun to watch our balls go nowhere.  everyone was really very excited if we are able to hit that occasional spare and the very elusive strike. 🙂

we also had some snacks of popcorn and fishballs while we were playing.

after the games, most of our joints were already aching since most of our exercises are actually limited to playing sports in our xbox 360 kinect.

so who won?

so who won?

despite our best efforts, it was the guys team who won our games.  it is a little disconcerting given that they had two children in their team. 😦

after going around the mall a bit, we went to have dinner at xin wang hong kong cafe.  here are some pictures of what we ordered. 🙂

we were satisfied eating at xin wang.  they have a great selection of hk fusion food, the prices are very affordable, plus the servings are generous.  service is just ok as there were times when we had to call again the attention of the staff for something that we requestd like service water.  but we would definitely back as the we got the value for money.

after dinner, everyone was already beat and ready to go home.  it was an enjoyable post-christmas family bonding. 😀

birthday lunch with the family: burgoo

Published April 29, 2014 by ladyemelye

for 2013, i treated the family to lunch at burgoo.  i liked dining at burgoo since they have good portions, plenty of food choices, plus the fact that my son is able to unleash his creativity at their tables.

for our lunch, we ordered ribs, shrimps, chicken and seafood jambalaya.  we also ordered an assortment of drinks.  mine was the cranberry juice, while hubby had the unlimited coffee.

i really like the southern flavor of the food served at burgoo.  the ribs were very soft and falls of the bone, plus it has a sweet smoky barbecue flavor to it.  The shrimps were a little bit crunchy.  This platter was served with two sides and we chose the mashed potato and rice.

of course, just like what the others store have, since i was doing the post-birthday celebration, the staff came out with a complimentary scoop of ice cream plus a song number.

swensen’s

Published August 4, 2012 by ladyemelye

hubby, my niece and i have always been fond of ice cream.  ever since this ice cream parlor opened in Mall of Asia, we have been eyeing to try it out.  so one afternoon, we decided to fulfill our sweet cravings at swensen’s.

swensen’s

they have a menu with extensive offerings of sundaes, parfaits, shakes and other ice cream creations that would suit whatever you want in an ice cream.

the place was also warm and cozy, servers are very attentive, and we especially liked the glasses in which the water was served.  once you sit down on your table, they immediately serve you water.  this is nice since you need to wash away all the sweetness you will have from the ice cream.

so here is what we ordered:

sweet n’ gold – php 185.00

strawberry stripes – php 255.00

nutty crispy tower – php 245.00

ebony and ivory – php 265.00

chocolate ring a ding – php 245.00

we liked how each of our orders were a balance of sweetness, crunch and other flavors.  i loved the macadamia ice cream and caramel syrup on my ebony and ivory order.  the sweet and gold on the other hand has nata de coco and corn kernels.

one could also create your own concoctions by choosing your ice cream flavor, syrup and toppings that you want.

the price is a little high for just an order of ice cream, but it would be a good indulgence once in a while.  will definitely go back to try their other offerings.
